What is a Brake & Clutch Fluid Changes service?
Lube Stop’s Brake & Clutch Fluid Changes service is the replacement of the Brake & Clutch Fluid that your vehicle uses to stop or shift gears when you press the brake or clutch. Clutch and brake fluid are the same fluid with different applications. They are both used as a medium to transfer hydraulic power.
If your brake and clutch fluid is dirty or contaminated, it doesn’t circulate as well as it should. That’s why you have it changed or flushed.
Lube Stop provides this service as needed. To determine if it is needed, we look for signs that the fluid is dirty or contaminated. So, a visual inspection to detect pollutants or leaking is done. Following that, Lube Stop also inspects for difficulty braking or shifting and abnormal pedal behaviour. If they are present, we recommend replacing the fluid to the customer. If the customer agrees, then we proceed with the Brake & Clutch Fluid Changes or Flush service.
So, always bring any indicators of trouble to the attention of our Lube Stop technicians. These include signs of leaking fluid, difficulty shifting, difficulty braking or other odd pedal behaviours. From there, we will trouble shoot and determine if you need to change or flush your fluid.

What is brake and clutch fluid for?
Clutch and brake fluid are both the same fluid, but they are both stored in different places for different purposes. When you press the brake pedal, fluid flows through and pushes the brake piston and callipers onto the disc, employing the brakes. When you press your clutch pedal, fluid flows from the clutch’s master cylinder to its slave cylinder. You are then able to change gears because the pressure from this fluid engages the clutch.
Brake fluid is checked through the opening to the brake fluid reservoir tank. It is usually located near the back of the engine compartment. Lube Stop technicians are careful not to open this tank before cleaning the outside to prevent dirt from getting into it. To open the reservoir they unscrew the cap. They then look inside to see where the fluid level is. It should be within about a half-inch of the cap. If it isn’t and it’s not dirty, they’ll top it off. The condition of this fluid is tested by Lube Stop technicians using their patented in-house fluid testing kits. When it is found to be dirty or even just low, they will be sure to take this up with you before you leave. This gives you the chance to address it right away or to leave it for the next time depending on what the technician has determined the urgency is.
The clutch fluid is the same as brake fluid. You just add brake fluid to the clutch master cylinder. There’s no such thing individual clutch fluid. It’s not available at all since brake fluid is used both in hydraulic brake and hydraulic clutch.
